Colour report: what your colour costs, by service, stylist and product
Colour's grams and cost by service, stylist and product, what was left in the bowl or poured over, and colour done without a formula.
Reports → Colour shows the colour weighed into formulas for the dates you choose: how many grams were poured, what they cost you, what was left in the bowls, what was poured over what the formula said, and which colour services were finished without a formula. It needs "See reports for the whole salon" (owners and managers to start with), and shows once a service has Uses colour turned on. For weighing formulas, see weighing colour formulas.
Which formulas the Colour report counts
The Colour report counts weighed formulas only (typed ones have no grams). A formula weighed for an appointment counts on the appointment's day, even if it was weighed in later; one weighed straight on a client's card counts on the day it was saved.
Costs are at each product's cost price, without tax, when each line was weighed.
The Colour report's totals
| Figure | What it is |
|---|---|
| Formulas weighed | Weighed formulas in the dates, and the grams poured. |
| Colour cost | What that colour cost you. |
| Per formula | The average colour cost of a formula, and its share of what those services were booked at, without tax. |
| Left in the bowl | Grams left over in bowls that were reweighed, what that cost, and its share of what was poured. |
| Poured over | Grams poured on a scale past what they were to be, what that cost, and how many pours went over. |
| No formula | Colour services finished in the dates without a formula, typed or weighed. |
Colour cost by service, team member and product
- By service: each colour service's formulas, grams poured, colour cost, average cost per formula, the colour cost as a share of the service's price (what it was booked at, less any promo code, without tax), and what was left over.
- By team member: the same for whoever did the service (or whoever weighed the formula, when it wasn't for an appointment), with what was left over as a share of what they poured. Once anything's been poured on a scale, Pours over says how many of their pours went over and by how many grams in all.
- By product: grams and cost of each product, and how many formulas used it. A product you've since deleted still shows, by its name.
What was poured over
When a formula is poured on a connected scale (weighing on a connected scale), a product with grams to pour to (what the formula said, or for a developer, its ratio to the colour poured) counts as a pour; one added and poured with no grams yet doesn't. A pour more than 2% over (or 0.2 g on a small one) counts as poured over, and the grams past it count towards Poured over, costed at that product's cost price. A pour within 2% is on it, and pouring under isn't counted: it's not waste.
Only products poured on a scale count, so typed grams and formulas weighed before the scale never do. It's a measure of how closely formulas are followed at the scale, and the extra colour that costs.
Colour services finished without a formula
The Colour report lists the colour services finished (checked out) in the dates that have no formula, typed or weighed, newest first (a walk-in's isn't listed, as a formula goes on a client's card): the date and time, the client, the service and who did it. Open the client to add the formula. It shows the latest 50 and says how many there are in all.
Common questions
Why isn't the Colour report showing in Reports?
It shows once at least one service has Uses colour turned on (Settings → Services), to people who can see reports for the whole salon.
Why is a colour service's cost low or missing?
Only weighed formulas count. A formula that was typed, or weighed without saying which appointment it was for, doesn't count towards a service.
