Setting your salon's opening hours
Set the days and hours your salon is open, with split shifts and late nights, and see how opening hours relate to your booking page and your team's own hours.
Your opening hours are the days and times your salon is open. They show on your booking page, and they're where a new team member's working week starts. They don't decide when people can be booked: each person's own hours do that.
Changing opening hours needs the permission "Change salon settings (hours, online booking, messages, branding)". Owners have every permission, and managers have this one unless it's taken off them.
What opening hours are used for
- Your booking page shows "Open today 9am–5:30pm" (or "Closed today") at the top, and the whole week's hours with a tap.
- New team members start with your opening hours as their regular week, which you can then change.
- Same as opening hours copies them into someone's regular hours in one go.
- A new appointment starts at the time you open that day, when you haven't picked a time on the calendar.
- Repeating notes and blocked time can repeat on Every day you're open.
Online booking only offers times inside each stylist's own hours, not the salon's. See team hours and the roster.
Setting your opening hours
- Open Settings → Opening hours (or, on the calendar, the ⋯ (Calendar options) menu → Opening hours…).
- For each day, switch it on if you're open, or off for Closed. A day you switch on starts at 9:00 to 5:00.
- Choose the opening and closing times for each open day.
- Choose Save changes (from the calendar, Save).
Days are listed from the first day of your week, which you set in business details. Times can be from 5am to just before midnight, and show in your salon's 12-hour or 24-hour format.
Split shifts and late nights
- A break in the day, like closing for lunch: choose Split shift beside the day to add a second set of hours, like 9:00–12:00 and 1:00–5:30. Remove one with its ×.
- A late night: just give that day a later closing time, like Thursday 9am to 8pm.
Changing opening hours from the calendar
The calendar has its own way in, handy while you set up:
- The Set up your calendar bar on a new salon's calendar has an Opening hours button.
- The calendar's ⋯ (Calendar options) menu has Opening hours….
Here, if some team members work exactly your opening hours, FullColumn offers Change (their names)'s hours to match. Leave it ticked and their regular hours change with the salon's; untick it to change only the salon's. Opening hours changed in Settings → Opening hours never change anyone's own hours.
Opening hours and your team's hours
Opening hours and each person's hours are separate on purpose: a stylist might start late, finish early or work a late night when the salon isn't usually open.
- When someone can be booked (at the desk and online) comes from their own regular hours and the roster.
- The calendar's columns show each person's hours, and the calendar stretches to fit anyone working outside your usual day. What the calendar shows by default is set in Settings → Calendar: see using the calendar.
To change one person's hours, click their name at the top of the calendar. See team hours and the roster.
Opening hours on your booking page
Your booking page shows opening hours once you've saved them, along with your address and phone. Until then it shows none, so a new salon's example hours never show by mistake. A salon closed every day shows no hours at all. See your booking page.
Common questions
How do I close for a public holiday or the Christmas break?
Don't change your opening hours for that. Block out the time on the calendar instead, for the whole salon or for each person, so nobody can book it. See blocked time, time off and closures.
Why can clients book outside my opening hours?
Online booking follows each stylist's own hours. If someone's regular hours go past the salon's, clients can book them then. Change that person's hours.
I changed my opening hours but the calendar didn't change
The calendar shows each person's own hours. Change theirs too, or change opening hours from the calendar's ⋯ menu and tick Change (their names)'s hours to match.
Why doesn't my booking page show my hours?
You haven't saved opening hours yet, or every day is set to Closed. Open Settings → Opening hours, set them and choose Save changes. If the hours shown are already right, choose Save opening hours: until you've saved them once, it's under the hours with "Your booking page shows your opening hours once you’ve saved them." From the calendar's ⋯ menu, Opening hours… lets you Save them unchanged too.
