# Suggesting add-ons when clients book online

> Offer a one-tap extra on your booking page, like a toner after a colour or a treatment with a cut, as soon as a client picks a service.

Source: https://docs.fullcolumn.com/services/add-ons

An add-on is a service your booking page suggests once a client has picked another one: "Add to your Full head colour?" with a toner or a bond treatment beside it. One tap adds it to their booking. It's an easy way to sell the extras your stylists would suggest in the chair.

## How add-ons work

An add-on is an ordinary service on your menu, with its own price, time and stylists. You choose which services it's suggested with. When a client picks one of those on your booking page, the add-on appears under it, ready to add with one tap.

Add-ons are only suggested online. At the desk you book it like any other service.

## Setting up an add-on

1. Open **Settings → Services** and click the service you want to suggest, like "Toner / gloss".
2. Under **Suggest as an add-on**, open **Choose services…** and pick each service it goes with. **All colour services** (for any category) adds the whole category at once.
3. Choose **Save**.

The service shows an **Add-on** badge in your menu. To stop suggesting it with one service, choose the **×** on that service's name under **Suggest as an add-on**, then **Save**.

Setting up add-ons needs "Edit services and prices". Owners have every permission.

## What clients see when they book an add-on

- Once a client picks a service, "Add to your [service]?" appears under it, listing its add-ons with their time and price.
- Tapping one adds it (it shows a tick) and tapping again takes it off.
- The add-on is booked straight after the service it was suggested with: a toner right after the colour, before the cut.
- A [bundle](https://docs.fullcolumn.com/services/bundles) gets the add-ons of all its services, under "Add to your [bundle]?".
- If the client takes the main service off, its add-ons come off too.

Each add-on counts towards the most services a client can book at once (see [online booking rules](https://docs.fullcolumn.com/online-booking/booking-rules)). Its time and price are its own (a range when they differ between stylists), with tax added if your prices are set before tax.

## When an add-on doesn't show online

An add-on is only suggested when it could be booked:

- **Bookable online** is on for both the add-on and the service it goes with. If the add-on isn't, its editor says "Turn on “Bookable online” so clients can see the suggestion."
- Someone who's bookable online does it.
- For a [special](https://docs.fullcolumn.com/services/specials), it's offered on a day within how far ahead clients can book.
- The client hasn't already picked it as a service of its own.

## Ideas for add-ons

- A toner or gloss with any colour or foils.
- A bond repair treatment with colour, or with a cut and blow-dry.
- A fringe trim with a blow-dry.
- A scalp treatment or head massage with a cut.

## Common questions

### Can an add-on be suggested with a whole category?

Yes. In **Choose services…**, pick **All [category] services**, like **All colour services**. Services you add to that category later aren't included until you add them too.

### Can I offer an add-on at a lower price than booking it on its own?

No. An add-on is the same service with the same price. For a deal on several services together, make a [bundle](https://docs.fullcolumn.com/services/bundles) with its own price.

### Do add-ons show when I book at the desk?

No. Suggestions are for your booking page. At the desk, add the service to the appointment as usual.

### Can a service be an add-on and a normal service at the same time?

Yes. Clients can still book it on its own from your menu, and it's suggested as an add-on with the services you chose.
